3rd Floor Comedy Club

The 3rd Floor Comedy Club located at 2015 Rue Crescent is nothing short of electric. With English comedy shows almost every day of the week from open mic Sundays to the pro late show on Saturdays. Owner Josh Shapiro takes great care to book nothing, but the best stand-up talent around. The 3rd Floor Comedy Club is also the official host of the international roast battle league (RBL) where every 2 weeks comedians come up to roast each other to gain points for Montreal on the international RBL leaderboard. If roasting is not your style we highly recommend the Secret Show on 11pm Fridays for a truly unforgettable night that begins with a couple of regulars and ends with a podcast style type show were all secrets are unveiled.

World’s Smallest Comedy Night

Every Monday night for the past five years, Hurley’s Irish Pub on Crescent St. has been hosting the World’s Smallest Comedy Night, where established comics and relative newcomers — and sometimes visitors — test out their comedy in front of an audience in a charming Irish pub’s showroom.

Recently celebrating its fifth anniversary, the event was also recently voted as the best comedy night in the city by Cult MTL readers in their annual poll. The show began in 2018 as a “non-committal” open mic comedy night in a small speakeasy within Hurley’s bar. That narrow space was nestled in the corner of the bar, also a bizarre sort of entrance way to the back kitchen. The pub’s owner Bill Hurley gave the show the green light a week after Lyng proposed the idea. But needing to vacate that initial space, the comedy show was moved to a bigger room. Once World’s Smallest Comedy Night (or WSCN for short) started gaining consistent momentum, they were moved to a roughly 75-capacity showroom upstairs with a stage and their own bartender, where they’ve remained ever since.

The show has been held at every space within Hurley’s in a five-year timespan, having been moved around on several occasions. Nonetheless, the iconic downtown pub makes a great environment for a comedy night like this one, and it’s suited for these kinds of performances in ways other comedy venues aren’t.

The World’s Smallest Comedy Night are hardened veterans putting on more than 200 comedy shows so far with that number rising each Monday. The people behind the show frontrunner Vance Michel, creative director Zak Kik, producer and founder Walter J. Lyng, are all comedians, and all true independent producers. Which is why we considered them valuable affiliates and teammates.

The World’s Smallest Comedy Night also hosts a trivia night on Wednesdays at the same location.
