Comedy Open Mics

Do you want to try stand-up comedy in Montreal? Whether it is your first time or you are a veteran looking to work out a few sets the CCC has setup a list of recommended open mics around Montreal. Unlike big metropolitan comedy hubs like NYC and Los Angeles you do not pay for a spot and there is no concept of bringer open mics in the city. Here is a list of all the show up go ups in Montreal. There are other open mics in Montreal, but they are not show-up go-ups.

3rd Floor Comedy Club

Experience what it is like to perform on an intimate comedy club stage at the 3rd Floor Comedy Club (2015 Crescent) every Sunday. Sign-up 8:30-9:15pm. Show-up go-up. Anybody can get on stage. Seek out Arthur Sim Jr. 3-5 minute sets depending on the volume of comedians performing that night. Professional quality recordings of your performance are offered for a price. The 3rd Floor Comedy Club is also an affiliate of Canadian Comedy Cartel. Tickets for audience members are 5$ and are available here.

Hurleys Irish Pub

Every Monday at 10:30pm at 1245 Crescent the Dirty Open Mic at the World’s Smallest Comedy Show takes place. Sign-up is at 10:20pm show-up go-up. Anybody can try their luck. 3-5 minute sets depending on the volume of comics. Seek out Vance Michel. The World’s Smallest Comedy Night is also an affiliate of Canadian Comedy Cartel. Show is free to watch.

Grumpy’s

The Drop Your Gloves Comedy Open Mic is one of the longest running English open mics in Montreal. Catch anybody from first time college kids taking a crack at comedy or international headliners. Held at Grumpy’s Bar on Bishop St. in downtown Montreal. Not to be confused with the music open mic that takes place on Wednesdays. Sign-up at 10:30pm. 4-5 minute sets depending on the volume of comedians that night. Show-up go up. Audience members may listen in free of charge.

Show used to run weekly, but as of July 2024 is once a month with a booked line-up and an open mic afterwards. Usually the first Tuesday of every month. Talk to the bartender to find out who is hosting that night.

Tipsy Cow

Perhaps the most infamous open mic in the city. Every Sunday the Tipsy Cow open mic takes place at 3575 avenue du Parc in the middle of the McGill Ghetto. is the raunchiest of them all and our personal favourite. Showtime is at 7:30pm.
